Pierre Amoyal is recognized as one of the leading violinist and pedagogues of his generation. He is a disciple of the legendary violinist Jascha Heifetz.

He has played with the greatest conductors and orchestras in the most prestigious concert halls of the world. His first appearance with the Berlin Philharmonic under Maestro von Karajan in Berlin was followed by many further performances with this orchestra, including the German premiere of the Dutilleux Concerto under Lorin Maazel. In 1985, he made his recital debut in Carnegie Hall, which received outstanding critical acclaim.

He studied at the Conservatoire de Paris, graduating at age 12 with a First Prize (in 1961). He then won the Ginette Neveu Prize in 1963, and the Paganini Prize in 1964. At age 17, he traveled to Los Angeles for five years of study with Jascha Heifetz, which culminated in participating in chamber-music recordings with Heifetz. During this time he won the Enescu Prize (1970).

Following his move to Switzerland, he was Professor at the Lausanne Conservatory, Haute Ecole de Musique, and he is currently at the prestigious Mozarteum in Salzburg.

He was made a Chevalier of Arts and Letters in 1985 and promoted to Knight of the National Order of Merit in 1995. He also received the Prix du rayonnement de la Fondation vaudoise pour la culture in 2002, and the Prix de Lausanne in 2006.

He owns the "Kochanski" Stradivarius of 1717.

COURSES INCLUDE:

Final concert — participants of the master course will have the opportunity to perform at the final concert on Wednesday, September 25 in our Concert Hall followed by a reception cocktail.

Piano accompanist — a professional piano accompanist (prof. Akiko Nomoto) will be provided during the final lesson of the course and the concert.

Facilities — All students will have access to our practice rooms with piano to prepare the course.

Certificate & Recognition Trophy — all students will receive a Certificate of Participation and Recognition Trophy at the end of the master class.
